Here are the basics of what 8K TV is and how it works.

This technology has been used in movie theaters for many years but is now making its way into television sets. There is a great deal of confusion about what 8K television really means. This article will define what 8K TV is and explore some of the potential benefits and drawbacks of using this new high quality screen.8K television is an advanced system that takes 8,000 vertical lines full of picture information and displays them on a single screen. This is a highly technical way of referring to a modern high definition television (HDTV). With 8K sets, users can see 16 times more detail than standard high definition sets and see image quality that can't be matched by other technologies. For example, if you watch your favorite program in HD on your standard set, you can spend hours trying to pick out details on faces or facial expressions. If you have an 8K TV, however, you'll be able to see every detail clearly because it will look so sharp. Watching 8K shows on a 4K TV, however, will just leave you with a little bit of an aftertaste compared to an 8K display.

The first 8K televisions will be available sometime in 2013. The technology behind them is being developed by Japan's Panasonic. As of this writing, Japanese electronics maker Sony Corporation has begun selling production-ready sets and UHD (ultra high definition) displays for computers. Samsung , LG Electronics , and Sony are also producing the televisions that will come out next year or in 2014.These early sets have been through a number of improvements during their testing phase. For example, when they are launched in 2013, they will be able to do the following:With 8K technology, you can see details that other high definition screens can't show. For example, if you're watching a baseball game in HD on a set with a 60Hz refresh rate, you might be able to pick out the stitching on the players' uniforms and see that their faces look more detailed. The same game on an 8K TV will leave you in awe of its ability to display even the smallest of details without pixelation. On top of being able to pick up more details while watching sports and movies, 8K sets will also be 40 percent brighter than 4K TV's. With a brighter picture, you won't have to worry about wearing your glasses or craning your neck to see details.

The jump from regular HDTV to 8K is quite a bit in size. The 8K sets will have bigger screens, but the image quality will be more obvious. For example, say you're watching a game with friends and an 8KTV shows up. The game looks as crisp as it always has, but you don't notice it unless someone tells you that this is what high definition televisions are really like nowadays. Even then, though, you might not be willing to drop $1,000-$2,000 on this new technology.
